Hello. I'm Dick Byrd. This site deals
with the hobby of Amateur Radio. It's
actually a very
narrowly focused part of the hobby. Amateur Radio
Operators, "Ham Operators", engage in
communication over all parts of the
radio spectrum. To increase the power output from small
transmitters,
hams use amplifiers. A company called ETO produced amplifiers for years
and
operates today as "Alpha Power".
As you might imagine, their primary focus today is on their
newest
product. My interest is in supporting the older products. This site
is dedicated to
providing information as well as service for some of these
older rigs. The information contained
here is not the Gospel. It
is merely a collection of experiences I've had in repairing and
improving
this already remarkable product line.
(The cross-hatch pattern in this photo
is from the RF field atop the Westin Hotel in downtown Atlanta. Even a
high quality digital camera is not immune to this kind of intense RF
energy.)
